I am using the end-of-the-year to clean up files and processes. I am reviewing the list of employees who are currently out on leave or who are planning on taking a leave this school year to ensure I communicate with qualifying staff members about Washington’s Paid Family Medical Leave which begins January 1, 2020. The state has not yet finalized the forms or posters required to communicate the leave so I am working to be ready when they do.

I am also working to get the updated job descriptions finalized and ready to use for our classified employees. The job descriptions will have more consistency because they match the evaluation schedule we are using and be more clear overall. They will also serve as a foundation for posting positions.

Lastly, I am gearing up to communicate with employees about their plans for next year by sending out a survey. These responses will help with staffing decisions for the 2020-2021 school year and also allows me to guide employees through the processes of resigning or taking a leave if needed. To address certificated staffing needs the district sends a team to job fairs in the spring to help with recruiting so I am registering and building a team to attend one or both with me. I am also working with Eric Jacobson to get new banners for our booth with an updated look.
