Legislative: Supporting efforts to De-link Graduation from the SBAC and Relink graduation to meaningful indicators

Dr. John Steech and the Evergreen School Board have developed a legislative proposal to change the state graduation requirement that students achieve passing scores on the SBAC and NGSS in order to graduate from high school and implement a series of options that indicate that a student is ready to graduate and pursue a pathway to college, trade school, military, or other pathway toward a family wage job.

These documents clearly address the thinking and efforts to create laws that offer alternatives for students to earn a meaningful high school diploma.

The board may wish to consider supporting these efforts before the legislature as signators.
