A significant emphasis at Partners in Transition Program (PIT) is developing independent work skills. Daily our students are on a variety of job sites. Some students work directly with a job coach/Para Educators to learn valuable skills, others learn to work independently and reach the ultimate goal paid employment. In recent years multiple students have accomplished this goal, some right here in Woodland Public Schools. Others are employed at Classy Hair, local tree/wine farm, Safeway (Salmon Creek) and some continue to volunteer within our community.
Recently two of our young men have been hired as part time help at Topper Industries, here in Woodland. They have been working in the assembly of docks, organization of the shop, as well as a variety of other duties. The staff at Topper Industries have been amazing helping teach our young men the required job skills, while being positive work models for them.
Each year we access over 20 work sites, most of them right here in our community. We are very thankful for all of the support our students receive here at school and within our community!
