Skills USA preparing for Regionals: Our Skills USA Regional Conference and Leadership competitions will be Saturday February 6th at Fort Vancouver. We will have students competing in a variety of areas ranging from Job Interview, Customer Service, First Aid/CPR and Medical Terminology. Our Career portion of the competition will be at various locations; We hosted a Restaurant Services competition on Feb. 2 – and finished with the top two spots (Karin Taylor 1st, Selena Meddock 2nd)! They both advance to state. Culinary competition will be Thursday (2/4) at Fort Vancouver. Touch of Class Catering is also finalizing the desserts for the upcoming Taste of Jazz.

HOSA raising funds for state: HOSA (Mrs. Cullison’s CTSO) hosted a Burgerville Night January 20th, and made $220 to help cover costs to compete at the state competition in March in Bothell.  We are preparing for that competition.

Shop classes learning the tricks of the trade: In shop students are removing, troubleshooting, and replacing an engine in a truck and learning basic maintenance of vehicles. The welding students have been designing signs in CAD and then cutting them out with the plasma table. Advanced welding students have been making carts, front and rear bumpers for trucks, log splitting tools, and have also been using the plasma table.

Lego Robotics continues to impress: Tim Brown’s Middle School LEGO Robotics team attended the Oregon state championship for the 9th time in the last 11 years, and came home with the first place trophy for teamwork.
